Sogal is just 4 kms away from Murugod or Kengeri a small and very beautiful place with 3 hills joined like a Trishul. A beautiful water fall also seen . In the middle a temple of Someshwara ( Lord Mahadeva ) is so beautiful that the mind automatically feel the touch of nature and god . This is established by Shri Parashurama after winning the world seven times .
It is said that the marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva and Godess Parwati took place here only. On the first monday of Falguna every year a big procession and festval takes place here. In rememberance of the wedding ceremoney of lord Shiva and Parvati . The cloth for the wedding anneversory of Lord Shankara and Parvati is prepared on the same day with the cotten brought that is from thread of that cotton to cloth all proceedure are performed in the same day and the cloth is used for marriage.Shri Chidambar Mahaswamiji 's father Shri Martanda Dixit have performed Gayatri punahcharana here before the birth of Shri Chidambar Mahaswamiji . Gayatri punascharana means , It is 24 lacs japa of Gayatri mantra ourt of which 10% of it tarpana ,10% of tarpana for homa , 10% of homa for marjana , 10% of marjana for brahmana bhojana which completes one punascharana. The Soojigallu , Tadisalu ,Kadamba kings fort , Vishweshwar temple , Durga temple are still here for the pilgrims to see.
There is a temple of Kanva rishi here which is a very rare thing in the world.
